Project Description

The Brief

Brooks Malaysia online store was already trading, and that was the challenge. The site needed a clearer, more intuitive shopping experience, but the business couldn't afford downtime. The enhanced version had to be designed and built in parallel while the existing store kept serving customers.

Our Role

We led the UI redesign. A separate development company was responsible for building the enhanced site from our designs. Two teams, one goal: a better store, delivered without disrupting daily sales.

The Approach

We treated the developers as partners from day one, not as a handoff at the end. Design decisions were shaped through ongoing discussion, reviewing what was technically feasible, what would perform well, and what would genuinely help shoppers find and buy products faster.

The Trade-offs

Not every idea made it to launch as first imagined. Where a visual detail risked slowing the site down or complicating the build, we reworked it. Sometimes that meant giving up a bit of polish in favour of speed and stability, because on an e-commerce site a fast, smooth experience sells more than a beautiful one that lags.
